Lettuce is a cool-weather crop that should be planted in the spring as soon as soil can be worked. Sow seeds sparingly about 1" apart, firming over the soil lightly to ensure germination. As plants grow, thin to 1 every 6". Overcrowding can cause leaves to have a bitter taste. While growing, keep the soil well watered. As they grow, harvest and enjoy soft, baby greens from the outside of the plant to allow inner leaves to flourish. Pick full head after 60-70 days, and before flowers appear, to ensure the lettuce doesn't become too mature.

For the Best Results: Buttercrunch Lettuce is very hardy, but will need extra shade and misting in hotter climates with the most sun. In warm climates it can be planted in the fall for a spring harvest.
