Start outdoors in a warm, sunny location after the last frost date. (For fall and winter harvests, start seeds 10-12 weeks before the fall frost date.) Before planting, loosen soil, fertilize with vegetable food, and water thoroughly. Plant 1/2" deep and firm soil over seed. Keep soil moist and feed every 4-6 weeks. As sprouts develop, remove lower leaves to encourage heavier production. Harvest tight 1" buds from the bottom of the plant, by twisting them off the stalk.

For the best flavor plant for a fall or early winter harvest, as Brussels sprouts increase and improve in flavor after a light frost or two.

Sprouts are delicious fresh or from frozen. They're also good for you with Calcium, Iron, Potassium, and Vitamins A, B1, B2 and C.
